Trip to the South Bank

Since Marta’s dear brother Michal and dear brother Grzesiu arrived in London to stay with Marta and Kemal, there’s been very little time for all of them together to go and have some quality time.
They have therefore decided to wake-up as early as possible on Sunday (that turned out to be 1 o’clock), eat some quick breakfast and set off on their first sightseeing tour.

The weather was lovely, though a bit windy. In good moods they set off to see some sights. First, they passed by Marta’s office (by bus) which is near St Paul’s Cathedral. Then, they wanted to see the famous Temple (the one that appears in the Da Vinci Code), but unfortunately, there was a movie being shot there at that time and so there was no entry for normal people. However, they managed to photograph some weird looking people; presumably they were the actors for the movie that was being shot. But who knows….

Here are the weird looking people:

Then they walked towards the river Thames, crossed the bridge and joined the crowds on the South Bank. Here are the crowds on the South Bank:

The biggest part of the trip was a visit to the Tate Modern gallery. First, they wandered around looking at some incomprehensible paintings and sculptures, then (very exhausted by the amount of art they were exposed to in such a short period of time), they ventured into the 7th floor Tate Modern Café. The view from the café was worth the visit (and there were some chairs to rest their tired parts upon). They stayed there for a while and made a plan about what to do next. Some were for coming back home and going to beds, some were for pressing on with the journey (as otherwise it would be a very disappointing Sunday trip to The South Bank). They decided to press on.

Here they are, pressing on:

Not far from the Tate Modern, they stopped for a coffee in Starbucks. They also visited the Globe theatre, dear brother Michal, bought a nice wallet for himself that says Alas! Poor Yorick! on it, apparently a quote from Hamlet. They decided that it would be nice to go and see a play one day in the theatre. It is a special kind of theatre – very historical and very special. To think that Shakespeare actually worked there and showed his plays there, makes it even more special.

Here is the Globe theatre:

With their moods a bit lifted by the coffee sipping through their veins and the new future plans about seeing Shakespeare’s plays in the original surroundings, they walked on along the river, passing by a medieval prison (described as the most notorious prison in London), a docked ship, London Bridge (dropping into a very nice pub on the way, or more precisely, to it’s toilets), by a display of very funny looking guitars and up to the Tower Bridge.

Here is one of the funny looking guitars:

Here is the Tower Bridge:

Very tired and very hungry and after waiting about 20 minutes for a bus to take them home, and after not a very comfortable journey on the bus (a big and noisy family of large people got on the next stop), they finally arrived at a small Turkish restaurant in Dalston Kingsland Road.

Here is Marta’s dear brother Michal and dear cousin Grzesiu, in a small Turkish restaurant:

The meal they had was delicious, albeit enormous. It was followed by Turkish tea (which after small additions of lemon and sugar made by Marta, tasted like tea that their Grandmother would make for them long, long time ago) and so they drunk it to to the memory of their Grandmother and her tea, and then they went slowly (as their stomachs were so full they could hardly move) home.

It was a really nice day. Full of adventures, happy moments, delicious food and lovely tea. Kemal was in a good mood throughout the whole day and made everyone else laugh a lot.

Here is Kemal, making everyone else laugh:

They have decided to go on more of those sightseeing tours. It’s so much fun!

OK, last time we introduced Marta's family: her dear mother and dear father, dear brother, dear cousin and dear cat. Of course, these are not all the people that belong to her family. There is lots of others and we will try introducing them whenever we can.

However, now came the time to introduce Kemal's family. Although, Kemal's family became sadly smaller earlier this year, there are still many people to introduce.

Let's start with Kemal's dear mum, Suna. She lives in Istanbul and sometimes goes to visit her family in Hendek and Adapazari. Kemal and Marta hope that she is happy there, but still, they can't wait to go and see her again soon.

And here's Damla. She is 3.5 years old and increadibly intelligent and otherwise developed for her age. She lives with her mum, Ilknur, and her mum's Ilknur's family and is generally a very happy child. No one ever tells her 'no' - and no wonder - you simply can't (or she will scream and cry and shout).....all you can do is to love her and smile and just let her do what she wants....that way is better (for all concerned).

And here's Ilknur, Damla's mum. She also lives in Istanbul and works and looks after Damla. It's been a tough year for her, but the Lord is looking after her and we hope He will give her peace and love. We love her lots and can't wait to see her too.

And here's Kemal's dear father, Rustu, who left us in May this year. He is greatly missed and loved.

And here's Kemal's dear brother, Enver, who left us in March this year. Words cannot describe how much we all miss him. Though we know we will all meet one day again (hopefully that will be in Heaven!), it is still difficult without him........

There is a beautiful line from a peom by a Polish poet, which says:
"Hurry to love people, they don't stay here for long…" (ks. J. Twardowski).

The Turel family would like to introduce themselves today.
Here we go then.
Here is Marta….

Here is Kemal……

and here is the cat called Punia that lived with Marta for a while and now lives with Marta’s parents in Poland. She is a lucky cat. She can lie down all day and no one tells her anything. Some people say she is a bit on the round side of things. But that’s quite normal for women in this family, so she doesn’t really care….we should all follow her example and do what our hearts desire. Life would be much more pleasant that way….although there wouldn’t be much happening I guess.

Here is Marta’s dear mother, Ania. She is sweet and loving and does a million things a day. And still has time to give you a nice smile, although she doesn’t quite like being photographed. I personally don’t know why? She’s so pretty!

Here is Marta’s dear father, Marek, feeding the cat called Punia. The cat called Punia is always hungry and feeding her gives everyone a lot of pleasure. It’s simply sweet….

Here are Marta’s dear brother Michal and dear cousin Grzesiu. The picture was taken at so called “sushi party”. Grzesiu did all the sushi. We all like sushi a lot. Including the cat called Punia. Dear brother Michal and dear cousin Grzesiu are currently in London, living in the same house as Marta and Kemal. They are all happy together, although because they all have to work, they don’t have much time for spending together, which is a big shame. Marta really loves her dear brother and her dear cousin and is really happy that they finally came to London and that there was a free room in the house for them to stay in. Life is really nice at times. And those nice times should be concentrated upon.

Oh, and here is the sun…..quite unusual this summer of clouds and rain and winds….

Next time, we will introduce Kemal's family. Although some of his close people are sadly not amongst us any more. But they are remembered and loved nonetheless. And they always will.

Love you lots!

Ciao!

Hello

Hello, welcome to the new blog of the Turel family.
This is going to be our family blog for all our friends and family members to see what we are up to....
Well, at the moment, we are not up to much.
Kemal is bravely studying for his exams which are at the end of August.
The exams are quite important as everything depends on them...so Kemal is studying (bravely) and Marta is waiting (also bravely). Their future is at the moment sort of unknown.
Which is interesting in a way...anything can happen.

Marta and Kemal have some nice people living with them at the moment:
Marta's brother: Michal
and Marta's cousin: Grzesiu.

It's fun.

So, that's it for now..this short introduction will do for the moment...we will post some photos soon, just to make that blog more interesting....

Just to add maybe, Marta should really start doing something about her Turkish.....and go on a diet possibly...it's not good, the way it is. Something should be done, and it should be done quickly.

There's going to be some nice changes to Marta's and Kemal's life soon and they should prepare themselves. They are lucky. They have lots of nice friends who care about them and lots of people who love them too. And they have each other.....

So, see you soon. Don't forget to visit us sometimes. Any time is good. Love you lots!

Ciao!
