he is wonderful with kids: it was so much fun growing up having him as my dad. he would read me winnie-the pooh before bed or tell me stories about this lovely little girl, which i knew was me.

he would take me for swimming lessons since i was only 5, and ice skating and skiing and drawing and even to ballet (that was a disaster, my fault entirely!)
and once when i was ill and lied down in bed and a nurse would come to give me an injection every day, he made sure i was not too afraid of them. he would cover me with a blanket up to my nose and open the window to air the room. and he would play me records with my favourite fairly tales.
and he taught me to ride a bike (that was painful at points!)
and he was teaching me german when i was little – it was so much fun! and then when i was already at school he was helping me with my maths and physics homework – although that wasn’t much fun for neither of us anymore.
he is so great with animals (any sort!), they are literally drawn to him (it must be something warm and loving about him that they sense). take our cat punia, for example - they are inseparable!

he's been always treating me as his friend and is always there for me. he is so wonderful to talk to. i can talk to him about pretty much everything and he always tries to understand my point of view, never undermines me, never says that i’m wrong but respects my opinion, even though he may disagree. he’s so intelligent and wise and i am learning a lot from him!
he's a great photographer, i just love his photos – they are perfect! he used to develop his photos himself and we would spend hours and hours in a dark room that he created from my little room with a thick blanket hang over the window.
and he's very good at all sorts of DIY, he makes so many wonderful things, he's got great ideas for the house and garden and builds and does a lot of stuff himself. he made me a black board when i was little and he is restoring my piano.
he loves going to a forest, we used to go for mushroom picking when i was little, we would wake up early in the morning when it was still dark, put on our wellies and drive in our little green fiat to a forest somewhere and would walk around picking up mushrooms and hugging trees. my dad knows everything about mushrooms so we were quite confident eating them later and oh they were so delicious when my mum cooked them at home!

and my dad did yoga for many years and we did relaxation together - we would lie down on the floor and he would say in a slow deep voice: my left leg is heavy, my right leg is heavy, my left arm is heavy, my right arm is heavy, etc. hahahhaha, that was fun!
i loved it when he and my brother came to london for my wedding. he was just the best! at one point we all started singing daddy cool for him! it was great! he was standing there, with a shot of vodka in one hand and a glass of wine in another having great time and feeling happy!

together with my mum they make just the most amazing fruit vodkas and homemade wine. oh it was so good to be at home in march and have wine and vodka tasting with my dad every evening!
he loves classical music and especially paganini and he encouraged me to practice my violin and piano when i was at school (a tough job, i now think, shouting 'marta play!' every day).
oh, i just love my dad, he’s so amazing!
and i am so happy to be his daughter!
and i am so unhappy about not being with him today on his 62nd birthday. we would have so much fun!
happy birthday dad!
you are truly the world's greatest dad!
just thought you'd like to know.
